ON SUNDAY, WE got a little peek at the inner workings of a fast food restaurant. And it wasn’t too inspiring.
Twitter user SineadSarah was shopping in Asda when she spotted a Domino’s driver loading up a trolley with £1 bags of wedges:
She was quite shocked at the sight, considering a portion of Domino’s wedges is £3.99 (or €3.50 here in Ireland) – and she wasn’t the only one, with 13,000 people retweeting the picture.
It turned into a bit of a takeaway pizza war:
A spokesperson for Domino’s told the Daily Mail that stocks do occasionally run out during busy weekends, but they “do not advocate this as a solution” and encourage franchisees to buy food from approved suppliers.
Asda, on the other hand, are only DELIGHTED with themselves, telling Metro:
…Some might say they are taking the pizza by passing off our great tasting wedges as their own. We’d suggest Domino’s customers just cut out the middle man and come to us for an amazing feast of wedges and pizza at a slice of the price!
The glee. It cannot be contained. Yes Asda, but will you deliver it into our hungry, hungover gobs at on the dot of noon? Get back to us then.
